Mary Saunders Barton, associate professor of voice and head of voice for the Musical Theatre program, will present "Broadway or Bust: Training Young Singers for Today's Musical Theatre," in the first 2011 Huddle with the Faculty program, Saturday, Sept. 3, 8:30-10 a.m., at the Nittany Lion Inn. The presentation, preceding the Nittany Lions' home opener against Indiana State, will be a teaching demo with Penn State Musical Theatre students, illustrating the current techniques used in musical theatre voice training. Saunders-Barton will discuss how different voices work, how vocal potential is unlocked in performers in both physical and psychological ways, and the advantages of developing flexible voices capable of singing in a variety of styles. The presentation will be streamed live at www.wpsu.org/huddle. For more information, visit www.alumni.psu.edu/events/2011-events/indiana-state-huddle-with-the-faculty.
