Recommended Academic Plan for Bachelor of Music, Composition Option (MUSBM at University Park only) (122 credits minimum)

• GWS, GHA, GQ, GN, GA, GH, and GS are codes used to identify General Education requirements.
• US, IL, and US;IL are codes used to designate courses that satisfy University United States/International Cultures requirements.
• W is the code used to designate courses that satisfy University Writing Across the Curriculum requirement.

Program Notes:  

**General Education Arts credits by petition.  Counting these credits as GA does not reduce the minimum credits required for the degree.

Piano proficiency:  All students must enroll in appropriate piano courses (class piano or private instruction), beginning with the first semester and continuing until the piano proficiency is passed.

Four credits of a secondary instrument are required, with a minimum of two credits on one instrument.  Class piano may count as a secondary instrument.

+ 461W-464W series or Special Topics course taught by music history or theory faculty.

Change of Major Requirements:  A minimum grade point average of 2.0 and an audition are required.
