Scholarship History

The Alumni Society scholarship was established in 1998 with the financial support of members and friends of the College of Arts and Architecture Alumni Society, to recognize undergraduate students maintaining a high level of academic achievement while exhibiting outstanding leadership or service. These founding alumni and existing members of the Alumni Society believe that Penn State's strength lies in its outstanding student body. It is their goal to use these awards to recognize student achievement and potential.

  • Participation in extracurricular activities, such as clubs or student government
  • Maintaining an employment schedule (work study or off-campus)
  • Community service, or service to the academic department, school, or college.

For Alumni

With generous donations from alumni and friends of the College, the Alumni Society Board has successfully raised over $235,000, exceeding the initial goal of $150,000. In 2014, the Alumni Society was able to offer, for the first time, seven awards of $750 instead of two. In 2015 the amount of each award was increased to $1,000.

$1,000 is just a drop in the bucket in financing an education. You can help us get to the next level with a gift of any amount and know that you are helping the next generation of leaders in the arts and design.

How do I give?

Checks payable to Penn State can be mailed to the College of Arts and Architecture Development Office, 107 Borland Building, University Park, PA 16802. Or, online gifts may be made here.
