We have enjoyed kicking off the new year with alumni engagement events both on and off campus, with many more planned for the coming months. It’s so gratifying to hear first-hand what our graduates have accomplished and what they have planned for the future.
In mid-January, we met with alumni and donors at the Penn State Center – Engaging Philadelphia. On January 17, the School of Theatre Alumni Group hosted its hugely successful alumni engagement event called STAGES—School of Theatre Alumni Giving Experience to Students. On February 3, we will host an alumni reception in downtown Los Angeles at DLR Group, co-sponsored by architecture alumnus Andrew Cupples and his firm (for more information, contact Joyce Hoffman). And then on February 17, it’s back to the east coast for a reception at Ameringer McEnery Yohe Gallery in New York City. The reception will be held in conjunction with the College Art Association conference, but all alumni and friends of the college are welcome (RSVP here).
Throughout the year, we enjoy engaging with alumni who return to campus to receive awards from the Alumni Association and the University. Each spring we host our college Alumni Award winners, whose visits to campus include presentations and meetings with students and faculty. Also in the spring, the Arts and Architecture Alumni Society hosts its annual Blue/White Tailgate and Senior Sendoff. This year we are seeking sponsors in order to keep the tailgate free for our graduating seniors. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, contact Joyce Hoffman or Mike Smanko, tailgate committee chair.
We are so thankful for the support offered by our alumni and friends, by sponsoring events, serving as mentors to students, and giving back in numerous other ways. We hope you will make an effort to attend one of our upcoming alumni events, and of course we are always happy to welcome you back to University Park.
