Partnering with Mount Nittany Health and The Arboretum at Penn State, Music at Penn's Woods presents an evening of music performed outdoors within the garden rooms of the H.O. Smith Botanic Gardens. The event began at 6:00 p.m. with the exploration of nature's healing force by wandering the garden pathways, drinking in the heady aromas of the summer rose garden, and sitting in quiet meditation pondering Music in the Gardens 2014the Joel N. Myers Sundial. Between 6:30 and 7:30 p.m., musicians from the Music at Penn's Woods Festival were planted throughout the gardens. Each musician performed a 10-12-minute selection several times throughout the hour so that guests had the opportunity to move around the gardens and not miss an artist. The music continued until 7:15 p.m. as guests walked the garden paths and lost themselves in the serenity of the visual and aural beauty surrounding them. They then met friends back on the event lawn at 7:30 p.m. for an exciting program. This year, the musicians performing on the event lawn were amplified so that all enjoyed the exquisite music. Blankets and lawn chairs were permitted for this special occasion! Guests entered the gardens and placed a chair and/or blanket on the lawn and wandered the gardens before returning for this exciting concert. The magic of music performed by members of the Music at Penn's Woods Festival Orchestra, joined with the visual beauty of the Arboretum's magnificent gardens, were meant to heal and restore the soul.
