Alumnus Matthew Mindrup (B.A. Philosophy ’94, B.Arch ’95) returns to Penn State to give a lecture at the Stuckeman School Jury Space on Thursday, January 22, at 6:00 p.m. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Mindrup, senior lecturer at the University of Sydney in Australia, is on tour in conjunction with the launch his new book, The Material Imagination: Reveries on Architecture and Matter (Ashgate, 2015). This collection of essays examines and seeks to reevaluate the relationship between materials and imagination in architecture and art. Mindrup’s ongoing research is rooted in the history and theory of architectural design, but he has been credited with helping to lead a reversal within traditional theory.
Mindrup holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania (1999) and a Ph.D. in Architecture and Design at Virginia Tech in 2007.
