College of Arts and Architecture names student marshal for summer graduation

Abigaile Wiker will serve as the College of Arts and Architecture marshal during the summer 2018 commencement ceremonies scheduled for Aug. 11, at the Bryce Jordan Center.

Wiker is graduating on Saturday with a degree in Scenic Design after a highly decorated undergraduate career that began in 2014.

In addition to earning Dean's List honors following each semester she studied at Penn State, Wiker was honored with the Oliver Smith Overall Achievement in Design award in 2018, the Oliver Smith Award for Design in 2017, the Oliver Smith Award for Crafts in 2016 and she was a Golumbic Scholarship Nominee. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

Wiker is a third-generation Penn State alumna and joins her grandfather, mother and sister who all earned a degree in the College of Arts and Architecture.

During her time at Penn State, Wiker worked on more than 20 Penn State Centre Stage productions, including set designer on "American Idiot" and "Argonautika." She also worked as an intern at David Korins Design Firm in New York City and she was the scenic design intern for The Muny, located in St. Louis, Missouri. During her senior year she trained in the graduate studio in design, painting and drawing classes.

Wiker is working as an assistant designer on four theatre productions in the Washington D.C. and New York City areas and plans to work at a design firm in NYC this fall
