Landscape Architect Gives Bracken Fellow Lecture

Landscape architect Achva Benzinberg Stein, FASLA, will give a free public lecture, “The Shape of the Content,” at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 24, in 110 Business Building, on the Penn State University Park campus. Stein’s lecture is sponsored by the Department of Landscape Architecture’s Bracken Lecture Series.

Stein is the director of the City College Architecture Center at the Bernard and Anne Spitzer School of Architecture, City College of New York, and the founder of the school’s landscape architecture graduate program. She is a practicing professional who has taught and worked in the United States, Europe, Israel, India and China. Her award-winning projects with neighborhood groups, public agencies, and non-profit organizations concentrate on meeting social needs while seeking to heal the damage of poorly managed urban development. Stein is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and has received numerous honors, including the ASLA 2010 Community Service Award, Certificate of Commendation for Outstanding Service to the Community from the city of Los Angeles, and University of Southern California Associates Award for Excellence in Teaching.
