The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) announced the winners of the 2013 Professional Awards and Student Awards. This year’s recipient of the Student Award of Excellence for Design is Penn State alumnus Matt Moffitt ('13 B.L.A.).
“It means a lot to win. I was quite surprised because I was competing with graduate and undergraduate entries from every landscape architecture program in the country and international programs. It’s an honor to win for my professor and for Penn State,” says Moffitt.
Moffitt’s winning project, Dredge City: Sediment Catalysis, completed last year with professor Sean Burkholder, proposes a site for processing dredge material from Lake Erie in order to help restore it and to improve the future of the Great Lakes system.
