Arts Day

Penn State students are invited to learn more about campus arts organization and performance ensembles during the inaugural Arts Day, Monday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. on the Palmer Museum of Art Plaza and in the adjacent Hamer Sculpture Garden. The event is presented by the College of Arts and Architecture’s Arts Ambassadors, a new group formed to encourage student engagement in arts and cultural activities on campus.

In addition to performances, art installations, and information tables for student groups, the event will include the artsUP photo booth and free Berkey Creamery ice cream. The Arts Ambassadors will be available to give tours of College of Arts and Architecture buildings between 2 and 4 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to connect with representatives of the Arts Ambassadors, College of Arts and Architecture Presidents’ Council, University Park Undergraduate Association (UPUA), Students Organizing the Multiple Arts (SOMA), Landscape Architecture Student Society (LASS), Pennsylvania Art Education Association (PAEA), Happy Valley Music Label, Asylum, Songwriters Club, Palmer Museum of Art, Center for the Performing Arts, and the Performing Arts Council.

“Arts Day is one of the Arts Ambassadors’ signature events, during which they will offer information on the various clubs in our college and showcase creative works that are completed or in progress from many of our units. The goal is to convey what it looks like to be part of our college community,” explained Wilna Taylor, arts engagement and programming manager and advisor to the Arts Ambassadors.

Arts Day coincides with the College of Arts and Architecture’s annual Fall Visit Day for prospective students, also being held on Oct. 10.
