The College of Arts and Architecture Staff Advisory Council, under the leadership of Nicole Cingolani during 2016–17, is planning a number of events and programs to encourage staff involvement and show the college’s appreciation for all staff members’ efforts. New this year is increased funding for staff professional development and an anonymous online form for staff to submit feedback to the council.
The council will continue the Staff Ticket Lottery, in which staff members can enter to win free tickets to select Center for the Performing Arts and School of Theatre performances, and the Staff Spotlight Award, which annually honors a staff member, selected from nominations, for outstanding service. The $500 award is given at the December All-College Meeting.
Other continuing activities include the annual food drive (food is collected at the December All-College Meeting) and the staff retreat, held each May. Planning for the 2017 retreat will begin in January.
With the increase in funding for professional development, staff may now request up to $500. Visit artsandarchitecture.psu.edu/facstaff for updated guidelines and the form to request funding. All requests should be sent to Shelly Marquardt (HR) in 120 Borland.
“The College of Arts and Architecture is a truly exciting place to work,” said Cingolani, IT consultant. “As a benefit of working in AAIT [Arts and Architecture Information Technology], I get to work with people in all of the different schools, departments, and areas of our college. But I know not everyone has the same opportunities to interact with each other because our college is spread out across campus and beyond. My main mission as chair is to bring the staff together to enhance the feeling of community here in the College of Arts and Architecture.”
The council held an ice cream social for all staff (photo gallery) on Thursday, Sept. 1, and a tailgate lunch will take place later this fall (date TBD).
“We hope you will join us and are very grateful to Dean Korner for her support, guidance, and resources in continuing to make our council initiatives a success," said Cingolani.
The Staff Advisory Council’s primary mission is to advise the college’s administration on staff matters, and thus is interested in hearing from you. Staff may submit ideas and voice concerns anonymously via the online form at artsandarchitecture.psu.edu/staff-advisory-council-suggestion-form, or via email at email@example.com.
