Art of Visual Arts Alumni

The Robeson Gallery will feature Faculty Collections: Penn State School of Visual Arts Alumni Work, September 27–December 1, 2013, with a public reception on October 24, 5:00 p.m. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

The exhibition will feature many pieces created in wide range of mediums, including ceramics, drawing, oil painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, video performance, and more. Some of the former students featured may have been encouraged to exhibit professionally for the first time by the Art on the Move program which is operated by the HUB-Robeson Galleries and primarily features student work.

Professor Emerita Micaela Amateau Amato, curator of the show, says, “Many of the faculty have acquired paintings, sculptures, ceramics, prints, and photographs from our students over the years that we believed were brilliant, breathtaking, and absolutely had to have. Over the years these works have been a tremendous source of pleasure for us, and have offered us great insight into how students have developed their professional work.” Amato has curated two other shows in celebration of the College of Art & Architecture’s 50th Anniversary: Uncanny Congruencies, on display at the Palmer Museum of Art until December 15, 2013, and Gesturing Into Consciousness, a juried show which was held at Edwin W. Zoller Gallery in April 2013.
