Art Ed Alumnus to Unveil Original Sculptures He is Donating to Penn State

Penn State alumnus Dr. Kodilinye Igwe ('88 Ph.D. Art Education) will unveil two original sculptures he is donating to Penn State during a public ceremony on Friday, March 30, at 11 a.m. in the lobby of the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center. The artworks, titled "Coming Home" and "International Ministries," are in honor of Dr. Igwe's Art Education instructors, as well as friend and International Christian Fellowship founder, Bill Saxton. A reception will follow in the Pasquerilla Garden Room.

A native of Nigeria, Dr. Igwe earned a master of arts in education at Rhode Island School of Design, and a bachelor of fine arts (with distinction) in textiles at the California College of Arts and Crafts. An accomplished artist in wood sculpture, he joined the art faculty at Claflin University in 1990, served as the chair of the art department until 1998, and currently teaches courses in art and general education.
